[Milsurplus] On the edge of off topic - muffler for WWII Navy generator

John,

I agree with the "other" John.  It should work fine.  I checked the generator 
manual but it doesn't mention use of an auxliary muffler.  However, it does 
mention the requirement when operated within an enclosed space (room or 
vehicle) to attach pipe to the muffler and run the pipe outside of the space.  Small 
engine mufflers have quite small insertion losses, probably less than several 
feet of pipe and fittings.
