Most likely the muffler will be fine. Try starting the engine w/o it and then
screwing it on. If there is essentially no change in the operating speed or note, it
is not increasing the back pressure significantly. A long exhaust pipe would also
increase the back pressure.
Also, it's not as if you are going to run the thing for thousands of hours.
