I'm sure there is a German radio mailing lists where ex WWII German radio guys talk about the good old days of radio. Maybe even on the air. I'm surprised we haven't heard from some...
I've known about the "loop" antenna on WWII German armor since I was a teenager. Even plastic models have the antennas.
For those of you who are not aware of the online U.S. military magazine "Army Communicator, Voice of he Signal Regiment" the 2004 No. 4 issue has a lot of discussion of NVIS and lots of photos and some talk of the "loop" or top loaded monopole. It's well worth looking up. In fact the magazine can be very interesting for many other articles as well.
