The fellow selling German manual reprints is
Peter, df3kt and you can mail him with his callsign
at aol dot com. I do not know if he has a list; i
requested quotes on specific manuals. The one
i was thinking of is # D963/8 1 Nov. 1941,
"MERKBLATT fuer die behelfsmaessige Herrichtung
von handelsueblichen Kraftwagen als Ersatz-
Funkkraftwagen".
Basically, how to set up available vehicles as expedient
radio vehicles. It does start out with some photos of
actual standard military radio vehicles before it illustrates
other vehicles.
Here's a tuff question for the loop - advocates to answer:
If it was a loop antenna, why would this "Roof Antenna"
( "Dachantenne" ) on page 20 of this book, be constructed
like a large gridwork, with the feed wire coming down from
the middle of the grid??
Page 32 Ilustration 27, "A simple expedient roofantenna for
truck with closed platform" showing WIRE rubber covered
zig zagged from side to side of the roof between 2 wooden
rails.
Prices: most of these reprints are about Eu10 or more. So
not exactly a steal. Also, once you've seen an SCR-506
manual or some other USA wonder, you will be quite or even
very disappointed with a German manual. So you are warned.
There is a book "Encyclopedia of German Tanks" that lists
the German vehicle radios and if i recall, also which vehicle
carried which. The book retailed for about $50 around 20
years ago but possibly a pre-owned one would be available
and realisticly priced. This book had lots of interesting photos
including radio setups.
I have also seen some photos of European reenactors with
absolutely fabulous German vehicles including complete radio
complement. -Hue M.
