The German vehicles seem (to me) (not totally unfounded) to have used these mobile frequencies:
1000-3000 kcs.
24-25 Mcs.
27-38 Mcs.
and i think also 38-44 Mcs. for ground-air coordination.

Gents:
I believe I read in QST back in the 60s that US Hams were able to monitor Rommel's Panzer maneuvers in North Africa in the early days of US involvement (ca 1942-43?) on 28 Mcs or so. Probably occurred during the runup to the sunspot peak just before the '56-'57 grandaddy. Anyone able to corroborate with appropriate citations, etc.?
