At one time, 220,000uF @ 35-50vdc "computer grade" caps were abundant.
I had a source for these in England at a reasonable price per each
but the ruddy fool had the bad manners to burn down. Stack five
together and you've got 1.1 farad which is good for dynamotor starting
or cap discharge spot welding.

For a Farad, that's not bad. Where it sucks is that the discharge
rate isn't quite all it could be and dumping that much current all at
once might not be in the program.

As capacitor technology has advanced, it has been shown that with
large values of C, these are increasingly necessary to prevent rifts
in the time-space continuum. It has been shown that global warming
is, in part, caused by failing to include these details.

Series connect. 6x5v=30v That also makes C equal 1/6 the original
value (assuming identical caps) so you'd need six banks like this in
parallel. With the additions mentioned in the previous paragraph,
that would be a wonderful way to help slow GW.

Being serious for a moment, see if you can find a source for the
computer grade caps I mentioned. It only takes five to make a Farad
(though I admit the cost will be more than the $50 mentioned) but the
entire cap bank would fit comfortably in a small shoe box and be
rugged enough to handle the rather huge discharge rate necessary for
dynamotor starting.

Also, if you do find a source, let me know because I still need them
for my welder.
