There was a recent post about the early BC-474, the "Swedish contract radio" claimed by the
US Army. I made visual contact with one example today. It is marked "US Army" but "MI-8751"
not BC-474. As the other fellow posted, the cabinet is thinner, less robust for sure; the snap hasps
are like on a child's toy toolbox compared to the robust snaps on the BC-474. There were painted
letters on the case, "COM SHO" and "TMS". One odd thing i do not understand is that the receiver
has an added panel piece where the main headphone connector is, and the transmitter has a
similar panel overlay around where the mic and key sockets are. Did these added panel overlay
pieces allow for a BC-474 configuration of these jacks that was not employed on the original MI
(RCA nomenclature) contract. This is SN #42 from 1941.
