Somebody wrote that TCS stood for Troop Carrier Squadron.
Somebody else said something about "tactical."

TCS in more recent days (USAF, anyway) referred to the
Tactical Control Squadrons who were field mobile battle
radar organizations.  The designation may have a different
meaning from what I remember.  It has been 36 years
since I retired from USAF!
