[Milsurplus] World War II Radio Functions

Over the last few years, I've fixed up some WWII military receivers. (Most of
them are running only because of the help I got from members of this list).
I'm trying to find out the typical WWII uses for the following receivers:

1. BC-342

2. BC-779

3. SX-28 (military verion).

I've done quite a bit of reading about the Philippine campaign of 12/41 to
5/42. The Navy had a radio interception station at Cavite naval base. When
Manila fell, the station moved to Corregidor. (I believe most of the
operators were evacuated before Corregidor fell because they knew that the
U.S. had broken the Japanese code). What kind of receivers would the Navy
have used at that stage of the war for signal-intelligence work?

As always, thanks!
