de WB2CPN Trivia about Costs.
About 40 or so years ago, I was in USAF, and some
bean counter thought up the idea of tagging every peice
of radio and related equipment to show the book value
at the time. Supposed to make us aware of the cost
of doing business, I guess. The kicker was this; if
something was tagged at say $9000, and wasn't being
used at the moment, the Squadron would get credit for
saving DOD $9000 if the item was sent to the Salvage
Yard, ReDistributing & Marketing, or whatever. Book
Keepers do earn their keep. Worse Part: I was with
an Active Duty friend snooping around one of their
sites last month, and I'll be darned if I didn't again see
price tags on some equipment. My friend said it was
a new idea that just came down. (All I ever learned
was "Cost Plus 10%") 73 Clete End Of Trivia.
