[Milsurplus] Interesting SCR-284-T4 Prototype At Auction

The Crosley SCR-284 would appear right from the start
to have an advantage in that the receiver PS is built right
into the rig. Also it looks like the Philco T4 requires a look
up table for the frequency.

One thing i wonder about is why the earlier BC-1209 /
SCR-583 - the rig sold by G&G for a few years, around
1961, i think - how this rig got such a high  BC and SCR
number.
That rig was rather like a forerunner of the SCR-284, or
maybe an also ran that didn't work out. As i recall, it covers
2.2 - 4.4 MHz and is larger than the SCR-284.

I was told by "someone", don't recall who, that most of the
583 sets went to the Mexican army, altho i don't know if that
story is hokem. 
I was told someone in NY state had 2 of them complete, but
was not interested in selling any. -Hue Miller
