In a separate email, I've sent a photo of an M-299, its internals, and the schematic.  Unfortunately the message size with attachments is 2MB.  If you don't get them, or you are on dial-up, let me know and I'll photograph the unit in lower resolution and send in separate parts.

The M-299 is very easily duplicated electrically.  It consists only of several resistors and a couple of capacitors...no transformers or inductances!  Unfortunately, the only schematic I've ever seen in on the inside of the M-299 cover plate.
