[Milsurplus] 800-Cycle Transformers: Crazy Idea?

The TBW center section was cursed with the 800 cycle stuff. its not just
the problem of the transformers being physically smaller you also have
to deal with the fact that the filtering for the original supply is way
too small to work at 60 cycles, when the filters are increased to work
with 60 cycle power source the time constants in the power supply
filters for the 500 volt supply will then provide enough DC when the key
is up that the transmitter produces a chirp that travels up the band
that's very annoying. a side effect of keying the AC primary of the HV
transformer. The TBW center section that I did had the original
transformers when I bought it, ended up replacing every part associated
with the power supply and the way the B+ and HV is controlled to make
the transmitter behave on the ham bands, was told that all problems were
result of not using original 800 cycle supply. my center section was
chopped up when I got it so had no problems doing this and by changing
what pins you use on the power plug on the transmitter you can keep
everything original in the transmitter cabinet.
