Where were the wireheads on this one? The 3rd of 4 antennas[(sic) -
elements ] is the one with feed line and it IS a 4ele 'half yagi'
antenna system. The other half, just like in a vertical/ground-plane,
is in the image beneath the liberator/privateer(?) skin. 1st 2 elt.s
are directors, last is reflector This may have been connected to a
Halli S-27/S-36 in acft to hunt axis vhf radars. antenna steered w.
stick 'n rudder Someone said same same antenna on port side of acft.
If true, then this foto printed backwards. Another someone suggested
2nd system on other side of acft would help w. homing. 'splain pse
Lucy Lastest, elt.s look like 19". For 2m foxhunts.... naaaah, c'mon
How may are reading this in US are wearing Pilgrim suits? Who thinks
I'm in a turkey costume? Marty

But previous to that, Dave opined a time frame:

I hadn't even considered SARAH, David, and I also have both the
Rescue Beacon plus the Aircraft mounted equipment. However, I think
it's too early for that system. These antennas were in use around
late 43 early 44 I believe. Thanks for the input. Cheers Dave VK4KDP

Now, I have to say: AHA!
There was some discussion on here a long time ago about the Yagi-Uda
antenna not being used by the country of invention, and the first
documented use in WW2 was on the A-bomb casing. Here is disproof of
that first use idea. Or did I remember incorrectly? The German A/C
radar sure used a lot of three element Yagis, judging from the
unexpurged photos, which were difficult to find for a long time after
the conflict. Another question for the ages: Why so long?

Happy turkey day,
George
