Yes; that may be true.
Now take a typical 6-10 feet of them and hook them to speakers.
Put a dual-trace scope on each speaker and feed them identical waveforms.
You will find no provable difference in the power delivered to the speakers,
given that you stay under the safe power handling capacity of the
smallest gauge wire.
