OFHC= oxygen free, high conductivity (this means both thermal and
electrical) This stuff is widely used in laboratory equipment ,
especially kelvin measurement apparatus and cryogenic equipment. It can
be far superior to plain old copper, copper varies widely in its
characteristics when even miniscule amount of impurities are present.
Experiment:
Take 100feet small gauge chinese wire , as cheap a you can find (buy it
at Fry's ;), measure the resistance with a good multimeter, do the same
with a like length, strand count and gauge of high quality (Belden,
Times, etc.) wire. I think you will find a significant difference.
