That's a very good use of your time. The USAF Museum is an excellent
facility, and one that doesn't get nearly the publicity of other air
museums.
You'll be able to walk through a partial B-29 fuselage, which is missing
most of the radio gear, but part of an AN/ARC-3 can be found there just like
it was the first time I toured there 36 years ago. I've visited many times
since, as it was on my way to various duty stations when I was on leave
while I was in the US Navy, and I used to be a regular Hamvention attendee
too.
Today, I'd be more likely to make a trip to Dayton for the USAF Museum than
for the Hamvention (or maybe to track down German relatives who setteled in
Darke and Mercer counties to the northwest).
