Day two had excellent weather again; attendance appeared to be down
today. Their were more people their yesterday. Several people commented
about the amount of people who were not their today. The 3885 net went
off well today with over twenty eight station checking in. Joe WA4VAG
was net control using a crank powered Chinese radio, with KA8TUR
operating his 94-5 Japanese radio set and KB9PZC operating a SCR-511
pogo stick radio dressed in period uniform. Their were a number of
BC-611 transceivers and a couple GRC-9 sets with KA8TUR operating a
French copy of the GRC-9 including all French accessories, also would
like to mention JA3FTU who was put into service cranking the generator
for the 94 set, looked like a role reversal with the American operating
and the Japanese cranking. The Cold War net on 51.0 had John K9WT as net
control and a total of thirty two stations checking in. the oldest radio
on the net was a BC-1000 belonging to Marty who had everything working
this year with the newest radios being a couple pair of PRC-138
transceivers. Non military radios don't get mention other then to note
that when the old PRC-10, BC-1000 and other radio transmit they can not
be heard by the modern narrow band sets. Their were radios from four
countries represented, many American PRC series couple French and German
sets and my Russian set. Many pictures were taken and will be posted on
several sites. Their did not appear to be any additional venders from
yesterday and I will not be attending tomorrow because I will be heading
over to the Air Force museum before departing the area.
