I've used the BC-610 in many applications. First for
ham radio in Berlin 1946. It was really about the only
thing the Air Force had like that. All our other stuff
was fixed, such as T-4/FRC and 96C's.The hut ended
up being used for something else. So did the engine.
I used a BC-610 as an aeronautical homing beacon on
1630 KHz or so on Kume Shima, and one at Tageu
Korea during that war. And once I put one on the
broadcast band for Alert Recall on Okinawa 1962.
And, they were the best of training material what with
the very good circuit descriptions in the manual.
I think that airplane with the BC-610 was the old ACS.
I do know they did that with C-47's when we first set
foot on Japan, (near Tokyo), at the end of WWII.
(The BC-610 would go on 10-mtrs by doubling in the
final, but the coil gets a little hot. Hi!) I have a few
pictures of all this.
