Robert,

No argument.   I was surprised, though, that the 399 TM seemed to hedge the 
designation.   My TM11-280, June 43, comes right out and sez the 299 "...is a 
high power, vehicular radio station capable of ...etc."   Believe the 299 did 
come with the vehicle, at least the Hallicrafters film shows them being shipped 
from the factory that way.
