The antenna configuration varies. The Ling had three wires, one from the forward periscope shear (about 15 ft above the deck), and one from each side of the conning tower, about 8 ft above the deck, all running forward to a T-mast at the bow. Only the two side mounted wires are still installed. I've seen some submarine pics with similar wires running aft. There is also some vague reference to a vertical whip in later records of the Ling, but we can't seem to figure out just where it would have been located, nor are there any photos of it.

The actual antenna run consists of four wires and three feedthrough insulators. A link from the radio room up through a watertight tube, a link from the outside of the tube to the bulkhead inside the conning tower shell, and then from the conning tower to the antenna itself the antenna itself. The center antenna feeds out the port side of the conning tower with its link from the side up to the periscope shear. The antennas themselves are supported at the rear on small metal struts jutting out from the conning tower. We have to periodically loosen and clean the operational connections now, and I am sure keeping them clean while underway was a constant chore.

Also the Pampanito's electronic equipment list is quite similar to the Ling's, with the exception of the RBH vs and RAO, and some of the test stuff. Most of the test stuff is missing.
