Oh, yes, I know what you mean.  Mostly shorted APC trimmer caps (RF & IF), 
due to the press-fit shaft barrel loosening and allowing the rotor to drop 
down to the stator plates.  Fortunately they can be fixed (if they are the 
type with the 180 degree rotor travel pin, since the pin keeps the rotor 
shaft from dropping further).  The stator plate thru-hole solder rivets on 
the front face of the ceramic can be heated and stator moved to "unshorted" 
position.    Yes, the RBS is a long-term work project, for sure!   :-)
