Most ships had a RAK/RAL somewhere, as they were often put into the role
of extreme backup. I am not sure how often the old sets were used, when
the RB* series were available full time - probably not much if at all. 

I bet they survived because it was actually more work to take them off
than to just move them down the bench in Radio 1.
