Sure, go ahead....blame me...I don't care...my bride blames me for
everything else.... :-)

I'm afraid I wasn't able to straighten out some inconsistencies in the
Kingfisher - I only had a few minutes to take some photos before they
hoisted it above the Enola Gay. The specialist who accomplished most of
the work did an amazing job on the plane, including restoring the float
- found in Adak, Alaska! He took some liberties with the radios, and
though the nomenclatures were written down during dismantling and should
be correct, wiring details were not as religiously recorded, so you have
things like the antenna wire going to the DU covered with insulating
beads, rather than simply an insulated wire as it should be, and it runs
down to the DU antenna terminal instead of the antenna relay like it
should. The original GF was in rough shape, so he substituted one of
Gordon White's morgue donations (a GF-3) though I think it should be an
almost identical GF-11. Oh well, they'll probably drop it down for some
minor work in a few years and we can correct it then. At least all the
piece parts are there. The mike bracket is an interesting comment on
covering two bases, since for some missions the RS-38 wasn't used - the
crew relying on mask mikes for interphone and communications.
73,
Mike
