I was looking at two TCS transmitters this weekend (preparing for the CX contest) and could not figure out why the "loading coil setting on each TCS series transmitter was different for an identical antenna load that was switched between the two transmitters.
I found that on a CIH 52245-A the adjustable loading coil "near end",( the end nearest the front panel) is connected to the wiper on
S-103 COND switch (Series Parallel Switch) but on the other transmitter a COL 52245 the "far" end of the loading coil was connected to the wiper on S-103.
Thus the turns counter readings are different.
Does any one have a explanation as to why the difference in the adjustable loading coil wiring ? The wiring appears to be factory and not changed by one of the previous owners. ( I no longer question why hams change things )
thanks and 73 breck k4che
