I normally don't like modifications, but one thing I did on
my R-105 is to use the dial light switch to switch the CW audio
filter in and out. The mode switch ties the filter to the CW mode
and its a little too narrow to listen to SSB with. Doesn't help
selectivity at all, but makes SSB listening a bit better. Totally
reversible and no-holes modification.

I heard of one idea to (can't remember where I read it) to
use a 500 kc mechanical filter in the IF, but you'd have to
figure out a switching system to use the variable IF calibration 
function, but that is just too much hacking of the receiver for my blood.
