[Milsurplus] Info needed on Meissner Signal Corp Item

Ken,

The item is really a Meissner Signal Shifter, but in military uniform.
During WW2 Meissner manufactured the 150-B transmitter for the military - a
real nice heavy boatanchor. It was another case of a radio product which was
originally manufactured for the civilian market but its rugged and reliable
design made it acceptable by the military. Thus the 150-B never got the
typical military nomenclature of BC-xxx, but the original type number was
used.
The advertised item is the "exciter" which was used with the 150-B. It is
the military version of Signal Shifter, the main difference between that and
the standard civilian version is the coil drawer built into the Signal
Shifter. Makes sense for the military to keep the coils handy in the same
box as the VFO...
A local friend has the whole enchilada in like new condition, working on the
air - a military Meissner 150-B and the exciter - a very impressive rig.
