Ken, the "Signal Shifter" I used in USAF in 1946 was
much different.  Mine didn't have the drawer for coils,
it didn't have the CW/Phone and Auto/on switches.
The front was brushed to a silver-like shine, and the
frequency indicator dial was a bit wider.  We used those
things to replace crystals in the Wilcox 96C family.
We also put them on the CW ham bands sometimes.  At
full power they put our a watt or so.
