[Milsurplus] Lead solder banned?

In response to the earlier post forwarded by Telegrapher regarding a rumor that the EPA was going to ban the sale of lead-bearing solder: I've been all over the EPA's web site, and all over Google, and the only thing I've found is progress reports on the use of lead-free solder alloys in the electronics industry as a whole.

I've found NO mention whatsoever of any ban on the lead-bearing stuff, impending or otherwise. Allied and other distributors are still selling lead-bearing solder, and I've not heard anything from them that it's about to go away.

My opinion, for lack of any other evidence: This is just a scare. Yes, the industry as a whole is moving towards lead-free solders, but it seems that the threshold for lead usage is those companies with ten or more employees that are using at least 250 pounds of lead-bearing solder per year.

	In other words, manufacturers.

This is not to say it couldn't happen in the future, but I'm not inclined to get scared just yet.

	Keep the peace(es).
