Hi

Well there is a Canadian Navy base up by Victoria. I think it's 
something like Esquamault. I'll guarantee I didn't spell that right 
though. I'm also sure that these days it's no longer correct to call it 
the Navy ... That said at least it used to be the main Pacific base of 
operations for the Canadians. They do a lot of rescue work out of 
there. For some odd reason they seem to get a bit huffy when they do 
the rescue and the US Coast Guard gets the credit.

I don't know enough about the way they do surplus disposal north of the 
border to know if there is any connection between base locations and 
disposal sites. They might haul it all back east to dispose of it. That 
wouldn't be any more weird than what we do down here. If they do 
significant disposal up there it might be worth investigating one of 
these days.
