Also went the route of HT4/BC610 to the GPT750.  Used a BC610 aboard the M/V Arctic Sealer on the final survey of the eastern extension of the DEW Line.  Used an old
Collins 32V2 to drive the BC-610 as the original oscillator was not all that stable.
Used the GPT750 with a PAL-1 amplifier later on.  Nice part about the GPT750 was could use independent sideband plus carrier for 80Cy TTY.   Best contact on the GPT was Chateauroux France to Dover AFB, DE running 250 mw from the exciter into the
35 Ft tunable whip on 20 meters as F7CP.
