Indeed. I can't address the Halli receiver.
Older test equipment of any type has very little resale value.  
Ebay might bring a very modest price- hamfest, usually little or none.
I shake my head at the poor old souls who bring a truck load of
HP and Textronics equipment to a fest, which they tag with 
prices in the hundreds.  By the end of the fest, their faces are 
downcast, the prices are halved or more, and they still take 
the equipment home unsold.
Any components in the ME-71A marked "Western Electric" might bring
him a few bucks.  I don't usually advocate cannibalization, but 
if he needs the money, he'll get more for a single WE-marked transformer
than all his test equipment combined.
