[Milsurplus] R-1004, the Zenith TO, and the 1L6...

Hi Ken,

The TO people have been massaging this for years. I think 
the right answer is to just ante up and buy a 1L6.  I 
suspect there was, a some point, a substantial slug of them 
in mil surplus that are now in the hands of the tube 
dealers.  Prices have been reasonably stable, climbing from 
about $30 to $45 over about 10 years.

The 1U6 is probably more rare that the 1L6.  Also it only 
has a 25mA filament, so you'd probably flame it in the TO 
series filament string if you didn't add a resistor in 
parallel.  Might be ok in the R-1004.
