Re the 1L6 replacement problem: why not just bite the
bullet and replace it with a MOSFET or 2 FETs? It's
absurd, IMO, to pay this much ( $35+ ) for a TEMPORARY
part. As the price of the 1L6 climbs upward, it will begin
approaching the value of the radio alone! Besides, look at
it this way: no one's going to begin manufacturing 1L6's again.
As time passes, the NIB ones still around will start to weaken,
even in storage, as the glass seals leak. Assuming some folks
in the future will want these antiques in some kind of operational
state, they at some point will have no more 1L6's anyway,
except new duds in boxes.
