I don't know;
the TCS was used all over the place, from battleships to airships
to PT-boats to jeep installations. It served long after WWII.
If it was not used by a forward observer or to call aircraft
at one time or another, I'd be surprised.
It certainly *could* have been used in such a role.
One cannot say that any WWII communications radio
was *always* used this way or was *never* used that way,
regardless of what the manuals and field books say.
There have been too many documented instances
of "creative" use of the equipment on hand.
A two-transmitter three-receiver SCR-274N
used in the tower of an airfield in the PTO comes to mind.
An infantry BC-659 cobbled into an L-5 spotter,
or an SCR-522 installed in a tank are other examples.
Good luck in your search, and please
let us know of any information you find.

p.s. The error on the 375 was my bad.
