Check out the market for pre-1925 military sets. The common ones - BC-14,
BC-15, SCR-59 - go for roughly $1000.  BC-131/SE-1420s go for $2500
relatively consistently, and CW-938 "Subchasers" go for a few thousand
above that.  If you move up to the more complex sets, $2500 becomes a
bargain price. 

It is getting to a point that some sets might need $1500 worth
of VT-1s and VT-2s just to tube them up!
