Sure about that on the BC-348 ? I thought ER had an article or interview =
a few years back with an RCA engineer responsible for the 348. I don't
recall Ft. Monmouth being mentioned at all. I may be mistaken. Help
me out, someone.

Technically, the BC-348 was not designed from scratch by anyone. The fir=

BC-348 model was the BC-348-B, which was a follow-on from the BC-224-A an=
d
built at the same time as the BC-224-B. Just as with the BC-191 and
BC-375, the 12 volt model came first, but the 24 volt model is the one th=
at
most people recognize today. But I'm sure that Hue is correct. Signal
Corps Radio Laboratory at Ft. Monmouth did the original BC-312/314/342/34=

and RCA did the BC-224 and early BC-348. But none of them started with a=
civilian version.
