Group,

One other thing that I forgot to mention. Radios listed in the Airborne
Radio Equipment for the C-47 (remember that this is circa April 1943) are=

the SCR-183 and SCR-187. There is a footnote to the list of aircraft
carrying the SCR-274N to the effect that all future procurements of C-47'=
s
and C-53's will have 28 VDC systems. The C-47's could of course have
carried the 14 VDC SCR-542 but neither the C-46 nor C-54 (both with 28 VD=
C
systems) are listed as carrying the SCR-522. Just the SCR-274N and the
SCR-287-A.

>I've corresponded
with a fellow who was a USAAF radio tech during the last couple years of
WWII in the ETO, and he stated that the SCR-522 was in everything that
flew: fighter, bomber, or transport. Historically, the ugly-duckling
SCR-522 is an very important relic of WWII.<
