Group,

I know that some of you have gotten copies of it from me but haven't seen=

it mentioned in this thread. The Airborne Radio Equipment Handbook was
produced by the Signal Section, Air Service Command at Patterson Field in=

April, 1943. Among many other things, it lists aircraft and the radios a=
nd
related equipment used in them and it lists radios and the aircraft that
carried them. There are also line drawings showing approximately where i=
n
each aircraft the equipment was located. =

The list for the B-17-F, B-24, B-25 and B-26 includes in part SCR-274N
(Command), SCR-287 (Liason) and SCR-522 (VHF). The list by radio set
agrees and the line drawings agree. The function descriptions (terms in
parentheses) in the Handbook are printed just as I have printed them abov=
e.

By contrast, the lists by radio and by aircraft and the position drawings=

for the P-38, 39, 40 and 51 (P-47 is not listed) show the SCR-274N
(Command) or SCR-522 (VHF) as alternates, and of course no liason set.

FWIW.
