I can understand how the connector fits to the shockmount, but the back of
the receiver cabinet still has a rectangular opening and screw holes, as if
something more like a cover or plate is missing. I was told that the
connector was attached to the shockmount *and* the cabinet, so that when the
screws were loosened and the radio slid out for servicing, the connector and
cabinet stayed locked to the shockmount. Makes sense, but it still doesn't
explain the hole on the rear of the cabinet, behind the connector. My
connector is enclosed and has an aluminium sleeve at the bottom for the
wires to exit, but nothing to mate up with the opening on the back.
