I have to disagree. Even in the late 1930s, ships often had quite an 
array of electronics. By late war, electronics were everywhere on the ships.

To give you an idea - BB59 has radios and radars in 20 or 25 "rooms". I 
think there are seven proper "Radio" rooms, plus scads of radar spaces. On a 
small ship, there may not be as many radio and radar rooms, but far more sonar 
rooms.
