Hi All; I have 2 of these scanners, both of which I use lapel speakers while 
carrying around and mobile speakers in the radio room and while mobile in 
the car. I have had trouble with both speaker jacks working intermittently. 
I also notice a groove being worn in the shaft of both lapel speaker plugs. 
I sent the first scanner back to Uniden a year ago and it worked great for 
awhile; now I'm having the same problem again. I did take the scanner apart 
and soldered the flanges of the jack of which one side was loose; but the 
jack still works intermittently. I've been in radio communications for 
almost 40 years, and never had problems with a speaker jack on any other 
scanner.

Do any of you that use the 396 have similar problems? I'm sending Uniden an 
e-mail about the problem and hopefully it can be resolved; but if I can 
mention that other owners are having problems with the jack it may have more 
pull in getting something done. Thankyou all for your time in reading this.
