Once again this year at the Westfield International Airshow, there was
probably 30 people or so with scanners walking around the the show grounds
in a confused state. The normal question was what frequencies should I
listening too? Than of course unless we knew the scanner model's frequency
range we would normally have them try a one UHF frequency & if that didn't
work than we would know WHAT we could give them....

Many of the general scanner land folks, lacked even a pencil & paper to take
notes on when you tried to give them frequencies..... I noted a few hadn't
even tied their shoe laces!!! :)

My feeling is that most of the high end scanner maufacturers (e.g. Uniden,
ICOM, AOR, Yaesu) as well as Radio Shack should consider having at least an
informational booth at some of the larger airshows/open houses, with some
working equipment models.. Part of marketing is to create awareness of
product availability to meet the consumer needs. It may not result in
instant sales but in the long term could result in increased sales. I
realize that there's some states' legal sales tax issues that may prevent
the various mailorder retailers from attending most shows, so it's probably
going to be the various manufacturers that will have to implement this!!!
