I've been attending Selfridge shows for over 30 years, and the
restriction on remaining in vehicles during the show is nothing new, and
certainly
pre-dates 9/11. Alot of the acts, especially the Angels, use this area
an approach in the shows, and I imagine they are all well aware that, if
worse
came to worse, this would be a prefered area to ditch an out of control
aircraft.
As far as the other restrictions, the only one that will put a hurting
on me is the coolers, which wasn't in force for the last show.
I guess checking every cooler was too labor/time restrictive.
I have spots staked outside of base right on the flight line, with views
much better than one can get anywhere on base, so these won't hurt me
too bad.
I spend all day the day before the show on a prime spot outside of base
to watch the fly-ins and Angels practice, same thing for the first day,
and usually go
in the second day to check out the static displays and bikini clad babes.
Thankfully, there are no restrictions on them ... But I agree with
everything you said.
Restrictions in this day and age are to be expected, particuliarly on
any military base, and should not be viewed as a slight or slander
against anyone
in particuliar.
