One thing I think has been overlooked in this thread is that the original
question referred to apparent signals between 180 and 190 kHz.  There are
actually very few experimenter transmissions going on there, so these
warbles are unknowns at best, probably PLCs, switching mode power supply
spurs, etc.

Most of the ones that are actual comm-like signals in that band are
operating under Part 15 limits, where CW is nearly useless for any
substantial distance on a regular basis.
