Excellent Gary - I flew into there and South in Coyhaique (teaching our future King how to set up dipoles :-)) a few years back - and its a great location.

About 30 years earlier the airport ndb was a blowtorch and one of the strongest south american sigs on the pacific coast from my rx location about 2000 miles South of Puerto Montt or so...

Station D in area 15 at 9414 km rose up and did battle with area 12 station D at 3340 km around 0400Z. It was interesting to see the signals capture then drop then capture again. Three messages from Chile made it through - DA54, DA43, and DA42. It was clear which messages came from Chile as opposed to Prince Rupert, BC - the messages all have headers stating "Puerto Montt". In the past I've seen messages in Spanish rather than English, but these latest are in English (the standard for 518 kHz transmissions; local languages are used on 490 kHz).
