Laurence, thanks for sharing your personal experiences with Puerto
Montt. I've copied NDBs CLD on 227 kHz, MJL on 240 kHz, TOY on 260 kHz,
and SNO on 355 kHz in the past. I think they're still active and the
only ones on the air at the moment. All are listed at
http://www.classaxe.com/dx/ndb/rna/signal_list with high TX power (1 to
3 kW) and I bet the antenna farms aren't shabby either.
You're quite a world traveler so wonder if you ever got to Easter
Island? IPA was a high-powered NDB there on 280 kHz but alas it is no
more. Same for ASN on 360 kHz from Ascension Island. They were thrilling
signals to copy and didn't need much enhancement to do so with just an
eprobe.
