Clive, Good thoughts on the TACAMO airborne VLF antenna.
 
So if they are able to configure two reels of wire as a full half-wave  
hanging inverted V dipole 
at 17.8KHz at 30,000 ft no wonder they can put out a whale of a  signal 
with a wider
bandwidth!
