Hello Steve, Lowfers,
It appears that most of the North American stations are on 501.1 rather than 503.9, so doing the math
you are set up OK for receiving them. 501100 - 1500 = 499600, so your dial on 499.6 kHz. is fine for
listening/watching of NA stations.
As to why the stations on this side of the pond have slid down to 499.6 may be that NA stations won't
interfere with EU & UK ops on 502.4 kHz. It makes sense to do that, as a lot of us both here and there
want to listen/watch for trans Atlantic WSPR signals.
It's very similar to the different frequencies used for QRSS on 2200 meters. One for east and one for
west, which has worked out well.
