Subject: [Lowfer] Grundig g5 sale at Radio Shack

The grundig g5 rec should be of interest to both the lowfers and qrp guys.
I bought one today at local radio shack for $39.00( list price $149.00).

Rec convers 150-29999 khz am/cw/ssb and 88-108mhz FM. Features are 1khz
tuning steps LCD display, wide and narrow selectivity, and can use
alkaline or rechargable NI-MH batteries. comes with 8 volt wall wart
adapter/charger.External antenna jack is 1/8 inch mono jack.Unit has line
out for sound card on ARGO ect.

Lowband sensitivity good enought to copy local NDBs, not low enough for
137 but useful on 160-190 and 600meters.Much better with longwire
connected to ext ant jack.Cw has thumbwheel bfo pitch contol.

Size is about like paperback book about 4 1/2 by 6 by 1 inch. Much smaller
than my radio shack DX400 keboard entry radio.

Plan to use mine for feild strength measurements on lowfer and cw copy in
the camper..

Local Radioshack store mgr says sale is company wide.
